After Fast Fashion, It's Now Time to Fight Fast Homeware: The Case For Sustainable Homeware.
Updated: May 23

A recent study conducted in 2022 by Hammonds Furniture suggests that Britons throw away ยฃ2.2 billion worth of homeware each year (source: https://lnkd.in/eHwxdRKS).
That's millions of items thrown away, and a lot of money in the trash can! ๐ช๐๏ธ๐๏ธ
While most of the homeware items thrown away are smaller, lower-cost items (candles, linen, blankets etc.), a large amount of the furniture we produce finds its way straight to landfill around the world. In fact, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that 9 million tons of furniture ends in landfill every single year! (source: https://lnkd.in/er4bqHPs)
That's a shame, especially when such pieces of furniture can be reused, donated or sold (to friends, family, neighbour's, charities, etc).
The circular economy is all about efficiency. Your waste ๐ฎ, is my treasure ๐ช, and value gets preserved and amplified within a closed system โป๏ธ๐ฐ
We understand that finding places for circular consumption in your local area is not always an easy task. There is a lot of information available, making it hard for such venues to stand out and for us, as consumers, to find them. That is exactly why we've created Ganddee Maps ๐บ๏ธ๐, to be the dedicated platform for circular, second-hand, and sustainable shops to stand out and reach their audience.
Are you looking for sustainable homeware and furniture in London? Wise decision! Second-hand furniture shopping allows you to find unique and beautiful pieces for a fraction of the cost.
