What is Cornwall Hospice Care?

Cornwall Hospice Care is a compassionate UK healthcare charity providing specialist palliative and end of life care for people living with terminal or life-limiting illnesses, along with support for their families and carers. The organisation runs two core hospices - Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell and St Julia's Hospice in Hayle - offering inpatient care, symptom management, lymphoedema clinics, community support hubs and bereavement services, all focused on quality of life and dignity for people approaching the end of life. The charity's free care services work in close partnership with the NHS and community teams, and are rooted in a commitment to make every day count for patients and their loved ones.

Cornwall Hospice Care operates throughout Cornwall, serving towns and communities from Penzance in the far west to Bude in the north and Perranporth on the north coast to Looe on the south coast. Its support extends beyond hospice walls through neighbourhood hubs that provide practical advice, emotional help and community outreach services in local settings. The charity relies heavily on voluntary donations, fundraisers, gifts in wills and retail income to sustain its free care programmes across the county.

Cornwall Hospice Care Charity Shops

Cornwall Hospice Care runs a network of charity shops and donation centres across Cornwall, from Penzance to Bude and key towns in between, helping to fund the hospice's vital services. These shops sell a wide range of donated second-hand goods, including clothing, books, accessories, homewares, furniture and seasonal items, often at affordable prices while promoting recycling and reuse in the local community. The charity also operates dedicated furniture stores and Retro shops, along with donation points and centres that accept preloved items for resale. Proceeds from shop sales contribute significantly to sustaining Cornwall Hospice Care's free end-of-life support, while the shops themselves serve as community hubs for volunteers, donors and shoppers alike.
