Get to know Lambeth and Southwark from a sustainable traveler's perspective with this day out itinerary packed with ethical activities.

Morning

Start your day in Borough Market with a hearty plant-based breakfast at Mallow. Their seasonal dishes made from locally sourced ingredients are the perfect fuel for a day of exploration in Bankside and the South East part of central London.

After breakfast, walk along the Thames Path towards Bermondsey. Stop by Hay's Galleria, Tower Bridge and head to Bermondsey Street. There, pop into Mary's Living & Giving Shop for vintage fashion and unique second-hand finds. Proceeds help make a difference across the UK to fight child poverty and support those who need it most.

After exploring the vibrant area, make your way to Kinder Kitchen, a plant-based café and deli. Their delicious coffee and vegan snacks will bring back some much-needed energy to continue with the afternoon program.

Afternoon In the afternoon, head to Walworth Road for an afternoon of charity and second-hand shopping. Browse electronics at CEX or Cash Converters, and clothing at Crisis or Sense. If you're looking for groceries, make sure to check Fareshares. This local community-ran gem will be the perfect place to buy some food for the week ahead.

Once you're done with shopping, get some fresh air in Burgess Park and go pet the animals at Vauxhall City Farm, one of London’s oldest city farms. It is home to pigs, sheep, rabbits, ducks and more. Then, make your way back to Bankside by following the Thames and if time allows get a hot drink at Origin Coffee.

Evening

Finish off your sustainable day out in SE1 with a delicious plant-based dinner at Caravan or Plant of Roselyn.
