Thrifting in Wolverhampton: The Ultimate Guide

Wolverhampton isn't particularly known for its thrifting scene - but trust me, it's there if you know where to look. While you may not find the most curated vintage strips and most aesthetic boutiques, you'll definitely be able to browse through long-standing indie second-hand shops, charity shops, and car boot sales just outside the centre. Thrifting in Wolverhampton might not be glamorous, but you'll definitely head back home with a bargain or two.

Here's a guide to shop second-hand in the city.

Vinyl & Vintage

If you love records, Vinyl & Vintage is definitely worth a visit. This shop is the last standing independent record store in Wolverhampton. It's wall-to-wall with second-hand and vintage vinyl, CDs, magazines, and posters, covering pretty much every genre you can think of. The prices are all reasonable too, and new stock arrives weekly!

Address: 5-6 Cleveland Street, WV1 3HR

Opening hours: Tue-Sat: 10am-4:30pm | Sun-Mon: CLOSED

Bad Boy Vintage

This might be one of the only vintage clothing stores in Wolverhampton, and it definitely delivers. The setup sits somewhere between a kilo sale and a traditional vintage shop. Look out for the yellow-tagged items that are part of the kilo sale (£20 per kilo) and the purple tags that are fixed-price.

Address: 51 Lichfield Street, WV1 1EQ

The City Centre Charity Shop Loop

There's a cluster of charity shops in Wolverhampton city centre that can easily be done as a loop (thrift crawl anyone?). Some shops have better stock than others, but if you're heading to one, you may as well do them all!

The British Heart Foundation

Two BHF stores are within walking distance from each other: one on Victoria Street, the other on Queen Street. Given that stock rotates daily, you may as well visit both as you roam around the city's charity shops.

Address:

  • 58-60 Victoria Street, Mander Centre, WV1 3NX

  • 10-11 Queen Street, WV1 3JX

Compton Care Retail Plus

To me, this shops is the holy grail of charity shops. Compton Care Retail Plus is genuinely one of the biggest charity superstores I've ever seen - and there's a café inside the shop!

You'll also find another Compton Care store in the Mander Centre, which is worth checking out too.

Address: 2 St. Georges Parade, Wolverhampton, WV2 1BA

Opening hours: Mon-Sat: 9am-5pm | Sun: 10am-4pm

Beyond the city's charity shops and independent second-hand shops, car boot sales are also worth visiting if you go thrift in Wolverhampton. Most are just around a 20-minute drive outside the city centre, which makes them pretty accessible.

Saredon Car Boot Sale

Saredon Car Boot Sale is a popular one. Entry is just £1, but it can get busy, so it's best to arrive early - and don't forget to dress for whatever the British weather decides to throw at you!

Address: Mill Lane, Saredon, WV10 7LJ

Opening Hours: 7am – 2pm on Sundays

Featherstone Car Boot Sale

Address: Dark Lane, Featherstone, Shareshill, WV10 7HT

Opening Hours: 7am – 2pm on Sundays (from Spring)

This car boot sale only runs for part of the year, usually from March to June. There's plenty of parking, entry is just £1, and the stalls offer a great mix of items - with some tasty food options to keep you going while you browse.
